Well..some idiot says that January was the warmest on record. I don’t know what planet he’s on but it isn’t this one. More snow fell last night in Philadelphia. Gale force winds blew over everything in their path..including my garbage cans. I have no idea where the lids are today. Garbage can lids are like socks, you always end up with one missing. I still haven’t figured out socks yet so missing garbage can lids will take a bit more time.
Anyway, snow isn’t as bad as last time, cars aren’t really snowed in and if you are lucky enough to have been on the side of the street that gets all the sun there won’t be a lot to shovel. Just as well cuz I’m all shovelled out.
Brian Westbrook was released Tuesday by the Philadelphia Eagles, ending an often-dynamic eight-year run that was marred by various injuries.
A former All-Pro, the 5-foot-10 Westbrook led the league in yards from scrimmage in 2007 with 2,104. He rushed for 1,333 yards and accounted for 12 touchdowns that season.
But he spent much of last season on the sidelines, missing eight games with a pair of concussions and an ankle injury. Westbrook had only two touchdowns in 2009.
He was due $7.25 million next season.
Eagles coach Andy Reid said he called Westbrook with the news Tuesday morning. Reid said Westbrook should still have an opportunity to play for another team.
“Brian is one of the greatest Eagles of all time and he is an even a better person and leader,” Reid said. “In my mind, there has not been a more versatile running back that the NFL has seen.”
Reid said he thinks Westbrook still wants to play.
LeSean McCoy, who rushed for 637 yards with four touchdowns in 16 games as a rookie, will become Philadelphia’s No. 1 running back.

They were finally able to come pick up the trash in my neighborhood today..hurray! Well our usual pickup is Friday but of course with all the snow they couldn’t pick up for two days so our rescheduled pick up was Sunday the 14th. Poor guys must have been overwhelmed with trash friom all those superbowl parties cuz they didn’t come Sunday. Recycling came though..so happy with that. They just came about an hour ago…GREAT! I’m sure they didn’t want to work the holiday any more than anyone else would, but hey its probably extra money and who can’t use a little extra these days? Anyway well done Philadelphia Streets..we know it was hard with all the snow.
Well I dont know about you guys but where I live this recent snowstorm was WORSE than the one before. I have shoveled and salted about 4 times now and its still piling up. It seems wetter and heavier to shovel as well. I really pity the people who have just dug their cars out…almost every car on my block is snowed under worse than before. Will this weather never end?
Get out the shovels…salt the steps..watch out for those falling clumps of snow sliding off the rooftops. More snow!!!! I have heard anything from 12 to 20 inches..hope its not that bad but I’m prepared for the worst.
Well, the weathermen were right…for a change. We did get over a foot of snow in Philadelphia, and more in some areas. It wasn’t that hard digging out if you got to the snow early on when it was very powdery but those poor souls who had to dig out their cars as well as their driveways had to work hard to get things cleared.
I saw several snow ploughs along Cottman Avenue, and they ploughed and salted Wellington and Cottage street a couple of times. The roads are looking pretty decent in my area of Northeast Philly.
We heard a huge bang late this afternoon..not sure what it was or what area it came from. It sounded to be the other side of Cottman Avenue, but don’t really know. If anyone knows what it was maybe you can give me a heads up.
I have heard there is another storm on the way so keep those shovels handy and the salt at the ready.
